Ginetta Junior Championship
The Ginetta Junior Championship is a one-make racing series based in the United Kingdom for young racing drivers aged 14 – 17 years old, run by Ginetta Cars. It is a support series for the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC). From the 2010 season teams will use the G40 model, but previously used the G20.
The championship began in 2003, and began supporting the BTCC in 2008.
Racing car
For 2010, the series has started using the new Ginetta G40 model, replacing the G20 model. The regulations for the series include sealed engines, gearboxes and differentials. This prevents expensive development of the cars and ensures that all of the cars are identical, helping to provide close racing.[1]
Race weekend
Meetings are usually made up of two 15-minute races. The starting grids for the two races are determined by a 15-minute qualifying session. Each driver's fastest lap in this session sets their starting position for the first race, whilst their second fastest lap sets their starting position for race two.
